Washington All-State High School
Marching Band
All secondary public and private school band directors throughout the State of Washington now have the opportunity to honor the hard work and commitment put forth by their most dedicated and accomplished students by nominating them for this prestigious organization!
The inaugural performances of the 2012 Washington All-State High School Marching Band will take place in Hawaii as the band will be performing in the King Kamehameha Parade in Honolulu, as well as giving performances at the USS Arizona Memorial and onboard the USS Missouri!
This experience will not only honor our State's finest student-musicians with an opportunity to perform as a member of a prestigious Washington all-state caliber band, but it is also the goal of the band's staff that each member receive high level instruction in marching and performance fundamentals as well as leadership and self-discipline that will result in an inevitable impact on their own high school marching band program.
In regard to the selection process, ANY public or private secondary school band director in the State of Washington, is eligible to nominate up to four wind and percussion students for potential selection in the All-State High School Marching Band as long as the students meet the following criteria:
-
Has prior marching experience
-
Is capable of performing a grade IV (medium-advanced) solo at a level comparable
to a rating of (I) “Superior” on the WMEA regional solo and ensemble level.
In addition to winds and percussion, a director may also nominate 1 potential guard member, 1 danceline member and a Drum Major candidate.
Any school who nominates students will be guaranteed of at least one person being selected. As part of the online nomination process, directors will be asked to rank order their selections as well as provide a few brief comments in regard to each student's marching band background and ability level.
If you are currently a public or private secondary band director in the State of Washington, please consider nominating the students from your program who you feel are not only the most deserving of being members of the first all-state marching band in our State's history, but who are also going to be tremendous ambassadors of your band program, your community, and our State.
If you have any remaining questions regarding any aspect of the Washington All-State High School Marching Band, please feel free to contact the group's director, Dr. Brad McDavid at
