2016 Washington All-State High School
All secondary public and private school band directors throughout the State of Washington are encouraged to take the opportunity to honor the hard work and commitment put forth by their most dedicated and accomplished students by nominating them for this prestigious organization!
The 2016 tour performances of the Washington All-State High School Marching Band will return us to historic Pearl Harbor and the USS Missouri and the Arizona Memorial. We will also celebrate our national holiday with a performance in the 2016 Kailua Independence Day Parade, followed by a public concert in the Kailua bandshell.
The WASMB experience is meant to not only honor our State's most dedicated high school marching band members with the opportunity to perform as a member of this exciting ensemble, but it is the goal of the band's staff that each member receive high level instruction in marching and performance fundamentals as well as leadership and self-discipline that will result in an inevitable positive impact on their own respective high school marching band program.
In regard to the selection process, ANY public or private secondary school band director in the State of Washington is eligible to nominate wind and percussion students for potential selection in the All-State High School Marching Band as long as the students meet the following criteria:
Has prior marching experience
Is capable of performing a medium-advanced solo at a level comparable
to a rating of "Excellent" on the WMEA regional solo and ensemble level.
In addition to winds and percussion, a director may also nominate guard and danceline members as well as candidates for the drum major positions.
Any school who nominates students will be guaranteed of at least one student being selected. However, directors can nominate as many students that they feel meet the selection criteria. As part of the online nomination process, directors will be asked to rank order their selections as well as provide a few brief comments in regard to each student's marching band background and ability level.
If you are currently a public or private secondary band director in the State of Washington, please consider nominating the students from your program who you feel are not only deserving of being members of the 2016 Washington All-State High School Marching Band, but who are also going to be tremendous ambassadors of your band program, your community, and our State.
